| Keith Carius from Westland tries to escape the hold of West Jefferson’s Jake Cochran, who went on to win the 171-pound match 6-4. West Jefferson hosted a wrestling invitational Dec. 19-20. Participating schools included Brookhaven, River Valley, Grandview, Franklin Heights, Whitehall, Paint Valley, Westland and West Jefferson. West Jefferson and Westland entered into the championship round, each with 6-0 records in the dual meet format. The match-up pitted West Jefferson Coach Mike Branham against his older brother, Roger Branham, Westland’s head coach. West Jefferson won the championship match, 47-28. |
