Delaware, Franklin, Madison & Union County Farm Bureaus will hold the Women in Agriculture Brunch on March 5. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. with the program starting at 11 a.m. at Nationwide Hotel & Conference Center, 100 Green Meadows Dr. S., Lewis Center.

The keynote speaker will be Sarah Huffman, executive director of the Office of Farmland Preservation with the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Huffman is responsible for overseeing the state’s efforts to partner with landowners, local government, Soil and Water Conservation Districts and land trusts to permanently preserve Ohio farms in agricultural production. She grew up on her family’s farm in southeast Iowa, the oldest portion of which has been in the family since the 1840s. During her youth, she rode horses, raised chickens and rabbits, and participated in 4-H. Huffman and her husband live in Delaware County with their 3-year-old daughter and two dogs.

Also at the brunch, Farm Bureau will honor Connie Skinner of Delaware County. A dedicated Farm Bureau member and volunteer, Skinner has been instrumental in many projects the county has done over the years, including involvement with the Delaware County Hunger Alliance, Benefit in the Barn and the county fair.

“This event is a celebration of achievement and a recognition of the contributions of women to agriculture, and we are proud to continue this long standing tradition,” said Melinda Lee, organization director for Central Ohio Farm Bureaus.

Brunch will feature a mimosa bar for guests 21 years of age and older.

Tickets are $10 for children 6-12 years old and $20 for adults and are available to purchase at https://womeninagbrunch22.eventbrite.com. The reservation deadline is Feb. 25. For more information, contact the County Farm Bureau office at franklin@ofbf.org or call 800-451-8908.
