Winners named in Lions Club peace poster contest

The London Lions Club sponsored a peace poster contest. Accompanied by their teacher, winners from London City Schools were: (from left) Breanna Webb, second place; teacher, Elizabeth Estrellado; Syrenity Aguirre, first place; and Rachel Jackman, third place. Syrenity’s poster was chosen as the overall winner and advances to the district competition.

The London Lions Club sponsored two Madison County schools in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest. Students from the Madison-Plains and London middle schools submitted entries based on the theme, “We are all connected.”

Representatives from the London Visual Arts Guild served as judges, selecting the top three entries from each school. They also selected an overall winner, Syrenity Aguirre from London Middle School, whose poster has been forwarded to the district competition.

The Arts Guild hosted an awards ceremony after which the students toured the current art exhibit at the London Art Center.
