West Jefferson romps over Cedarville and pays tribute to first responders

West Jefferson hosted Cedarville Sept. 10 and won the game 57-0. The victory took the Roughriders’ record to 4-0 on the season. They travel to Springfield Catholic Central on Sept. 17.

At the Sept. 10 game, West Jefferson’s marching band and football team paid tribute to first responders in honor of the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States.

West Jefferson running back Hayden Salyer looks to make a cut against a Cedarville defender. Salyer led all rushers with 79 yards on nine carries, added 79 receiving yards on six receptions, and scored two touchdowns.
West Jefferson receiver M.J. Book fights for more yardage after a pass reception. Book scored one touchdown and had six receptions for 148 yards.
West Jefferson quarterback Tyler Buescher fires another strike for a completion. Buescher completed 22 of 27 passes–three of them for touchdowns–for a total of 317 yards.
West Jefferson kicker Mason Cordetti prepares to kick another extra point. Cordetti kicked seven extra points on the night and became West Jefferson’s career kick scoring leader with 136 points.
Following the West Jefferson marching band’s halftime tribute to first responders in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States, Roughriders football players lined the sideline to thank first responders from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson Township Fire Department and West Jefferson Police Departments.
