A Community Tailgate Party will take place Sept. 28 in the parking lot at Pat’s Pizza & Pub, 55 E. Main St., West Jefferson.

The event includes:

2 p.m.–Cornhole tournament (registration begins at 1 p.m.)

4 p.m.–Live music by The Lost River Band/Red Hawk

4:30-7 p.m.–Facepainting

7:30 p.m.–Showing of the Ohio State University vs. Nebraska football game

A beer truck, silent auction, 50/50 raffle, football squares and children’s activities are part of the festivities, too. The silent auction includes Ohio State memorabilia and runs through the end of half-time of the game.

The event is a fundraiser for “Santino’s Crusade for a Cancer-Free World.” Santino Carnevale, a student at West Jefferson schools, coordinates the event in memory of his father and grandfather, both of whom passed away as the result of cancer.

In addition to the tailgate party, Santino organizes an annual bake sale and lemonade stand. Four years ago, he established the Head and Neck Cancer Strategic Support Fund at The James cancer center in Columbus. To date, his initiatives have raised more than $60,000 for cancer research.
