On Nov. 2, West Jefferson village council members approved the annexation of approximately 5.6 acres of land at 4950 W. Broad St. into the village.

Due Fratelli LLC, a construction company, owns the land. The company, whose headquarters are located on the site, plans to renovate its building and add office space that can be rented out to other companies.

Due Fratelli has yet to confirm specific design plans for the site.

In other news, council approved raises for the positions of council president and vice president.

Prior to the raise, the council president earned $225 per village council meeting. The council vice president earned $200 per meeting. Those pay rates are now $250 and $225, respectively.

The raises will take effect beginning on Jan. 1, 2021, after a new president and vice president are elected.

The sitting council president and vice president will not benefit from the approved raises unless they are reelected in January, said Mayor Ray Martin.
