Three candidates are running for two full-term seats on the Madison-Plains Local Schools board of education in the Nov. 5 general election. Additionally, one write-in candidate is running for an unexpired term on the board of education.
Each candidate was given an opportunity to provide information for the Madison Messenger’s Voter’s Guide. The following is the information they provided.

Candidates for Madison-Plains Board of Education

Previous service in public office: Madison-Plains School Board 2016-current, Tolles Career & Technical Center board member 2017-current
Education/military experience: Capital University Law School, Juris Doctorate; Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Bachelor of Arts. Member of the Ohio Air National Guard.
Community activities/honors: Member of Mount Sterling Church of the Nazarene, Upward Youth Basketball Coach, volunteer at Madison-Plains athletic events
Goals if elected: I would like to continue to work to provide the students of our district with the best possible education while being a good steward of taxpayers’ money.
• Rebecca (Becky) Rheinscheld

Occupation: School bus driver/OBI, London City Schools
Previous service in public office: None
Education/military experience: I am a 1988 graduate of Madison-Plains Local Schools and also a 1988 graduate of Harry E. Tolles Technical Center where I was a member of the Vocational Honor Society. Also two years of college at Ashford University in education.
Community activities/honors: Member of Church of Christ in Christian Union of Mount Sterling, where I also sing in the choir. Plus, I participate in car shows.
Goals if elected: If I am elected, I would like to achieve unity between the school and the community. I would also like to achieve unity with the entire county and the other districts. I want to achieve the best for the district and the community by listening to the people and talking with them and achieve what is best overall for the students in general.
Candidate for Madison-Plains Board of Education

Occupation: Laborer at M.H. Eby Inc.
Previous service in public office: I have never served in a public office before.
Education/military experience: I am a graduate of Graham High School, St. Paris, Ohio.
Community activities/honors: I am a member of the Madison County Ag Society and serve on the Senior Fair Board. I am also a 4-H club advisor and member of the 4-H Advisory Committee.
Goals if elected: I promise to do the best I can for the students and parents of the Madison Plains School District. I feel that a new perspective may be just what is needed to assist in the district.
