The Violet Township Fire Department’s annual Holiday Toy Drive will run through Dec. 20.

During these tough economic times, many children may not receive gifts this holiday season without everyone’s help.

The Violet Township Fire Department and the Violet Township Firefighters IAFF Local 3558 are leading the effort to collect new, unwrapped toys for area children.

The firefighters are committed to assisting those in need and are once again asking the community for their support.

With your help this endeavor can once again be a huge success.

Toys may be dropped off at any Violet Township Firehouse and many local businesses throughout the Pickerington area (call for locations).

There also is a great need every year for gift cards and monetary donations to assist families of older kids or those with special needs.

If you need assistance, contact any guidance counselor at your child’s Pickerington Local School.

Or if your child is not yet of school age, contact Maywood Mission in Lancaster at (740) 653-5734.

All requests in the Pickerington area are cross referenced to make sure all children are assisted in an equitable manner. Do not call the Fire Department if you are looking for assistance.

The Violet Township Holiday Toy Drive does not directly help any families; however, the fire department assists numerous social service organizations in the Pickerington area.

If you have any questions, contact Lt. Gregg Goodwin, Lt. Dave Belcher or Prevention Officer Jim Holcomb at the Violet Township Fire Department at (614) 837-4123.
