Veterans Day in Groveport

Groveport held its annual Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 11 in Veterans Park. The 2023 Veterans Brick honorees installed in the park are: U.S. Army – Katie Ann Gearheart, James Reed, William Shropshire, Sr.; U.S. Navy - Karl Albrink, James Franks; U.S. Air Force – Frank Bohn, Charles Branscome, Jack Davis, Lee Terry; U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard – Angela Irving. “Remember that veterans are the reason we are free,” Motts Military Director Warren Motts told the crowd gathered at the ceremony. Pictured here are Ohio Firefighter Pipes & Drum bagpipers who performed “Amazing Grace” at the closing of the ceremony.
Groveport Madison Middle School South Band Director and Assistant High School Marching Band Director Katie Harmon played “Taps” at the end of the ceremony.
The guest speaker was Groveport Madison School Board President LaToya Dowdell Burger, who is an 11-year U.S. Army veteran, minister, artist, and marketing expert.
The Groveport Police Department Honor Guard fired a three volley salute at the ceremony.
Members of American Legion Robert Dutro Post 486 raised the flags at the start of the ceremony.
