Two stores in Groveport were robbed within a few days of each other.
Groveport Police said a robbery took place around 6:56 p.m. on Nov. 27 at the Advance Auto Parts store at 6000 Groveport Road. Another robbery occurred around 8:25 p.m. on Dec. 1 at the Dollar General store located at 5800 Green Pointe Drive.
Groveport Police Sgt. Brian Thompson said a 35-year-old man has been charged with aggravated robbery in connection with both robberies. He said the suspect was already in jail after being arrested recently by another police department regarding a different incident when Groveport detectives charged him for the Groveport robberies.
Thompson said the suspect allegedly came into the Advanced Auto Parts store with a knife and fled with $260 in cash.
Thompson said the suspect during the Dollar General robbery was “reported to have a gun” and that the robbery involved “one individual who came in the store.” He said the suspect allegedly put the store clerk in the store’s restroom before fleeing the scene. The police report states the suspect allegedly took $281 in cash in the Dollar General robbery.
Thompson said no one was injured during the robberies.
When asked how common it is for stores to be robbed in Groveport, Thompson said, “It’s rare.”
