Georgesville native Randi Good was appointed to the Pleasant Township Board of Trustees at a special meeting held on Jan. 3. Good will fill the late Dale Worthington’s term, which expires on Dec. 31, 2017.
Pleasant Township trustees Nancy Hunter and Ed Sheets admitted that they have both lost sleep during the appointment process to fill the late Dale Worthington’s seat on the board.
“I think I can speak on Ed’s behalf when I say that this has been the hardest decision we have made since we have been trustees,” said board chairwoman Hunter.
They both said what made the decision so difficult was the fact that they had many qualified candidates submit resumes to fill the position.
“We had eight exceptionally qualified candidates to choose from, and that made the decision very difficult for us,” said Sheets.
After weeks of interviews and discussions, the trustees chose Georgesville native Randi Good from the pool of applicants.
Hunter said Good’s background in township government – she is currently an administrative assistant with Prairie Township – was the deciding factor.
Though Good admits she has never ran for office or held a political seat before, she applied for the vacant seat because she believed she could bring a lot to the table due to her administrative experience working at Prairie Township.
“I felt good about my capacity to the serve the public,” said Good at a special meeting on Jan. 3.
Upon graduating from Westland High School in 1999, Good took an administrative assistant position at Cowan and Associates, Inc. where she stayed for a decade. In 2010, she graduated from ITT Tech with a degree in business administration and, shortly thereafter, took a position at Prairie Township. She has been working there since, serving in many administrative capacities.
Good said she looks forward to serving on the Pleasant Township board of trustees.
“I am happy to be in this position and I am looking forward to serving the residents of Pleasant Township,” she said.
In other news, at the Dec. 22 meeting, the board announced they were hiring Stan Crosley with the Ohio Fire Chief’s Association to assist in the process to find a new chief for the Pleasant Township Fire Department. Former chief Jay Noojin retired on Dec. 31, 2016.
Sheets said it may take up to five months to find a new chief for the department. He added at the Jan. 3 special meeting that there were no plans to appoint an interim chief.
The board specified that the hiring of Crosley is not to exceed $7,500.
