A truck caught fire on Bixby Road at Bixby Ridge Drive on Sept. 28, according to the Groveport Police. “We got the call at about 12:40 p.m. to assist the fire department with a vehicle fire,” said Groveport Police Lt. Josh Short. “When our officers arrived Hamilton Township Fire Department had extinguished the fire which had destroyed the front half of the truck. The truck owner managed to pull the truck off of the road into the ditch so traffic was only obstructed for a short time by the emergency equipment.” Short said the truck owner had recently gotten the truck back from the mechanic and decided to drive it down the road to see how it was running. “He said he was quickly waved down by another motorist who observed flames coming from under the truck enabling him to pull off of the road and call 911,” said Short. “The truck owner was uninjured other than being hurt by losing the truck he had bought brand new in 2005 and that his grandkids loved to ride in.”
