Treasurer to leave Groveport Madison Schools

Groveport Madison Schools Treasurer, John Walsh has accepted the position of treasurer at Whitehall City Schools beginning Oct. 14. He had served as Groveport Madison treasurer since June 2015.

“John has done an incredible job as our treasurer since he arrived in 2015,” said Groveport Madison Board President Bryan Shoemaker. “He has worked hard to restore the faith and trust in the district’s financial reporting systems, and he has implemented many new strategies and initiatives to save our taxpayers money and at the same time increase the transparency of our financial reporting. John’s departure will be a big loss, but he should be very proud knowing all that he has accomplished during his time here. He leaves big shoes to fill, and he will most certainly be missed.”

“The Groveport Madison Board of Education gave me an opportunity to expand my professional scope, and in doing so, opened new doors for my family to grow,” said Walsh. “I will always be grateful to the Board of Education and the Groveport Madison Schools community.”

Walsh’s last day with the district will be Oct. 13. The board plans to contract with a consulting firm that specializes in the recruitment of treasurers and superintendents within Ohio. The board will consider action to identify an interim treasurer to oversee the financial operations of the district until a permanent successor for Walsh is selected. The timeline for these decisions has yet to be finalized.
