Over the course of two weeks, Gizzy’s Corner collected a huge pile of toys in memory of Jay Scaggs who passed away on Nov. 29.

Scaggs was a former deputy sheriff and long-time chief of the Madison County Medical Emergency Squad. He also was a loyal Gizzy’s customer, eating at the London restaurant every day and even helping with deliveries and walking employees to their cars at the end of each night.

“He brought so much happiness. We just wanted to do something in his honor,” said Gizzy’s owner Lori O’Connor.

The toys will go to the Holiday Helpers toy drive coordinated by Madison County Job & Family Services and the London Fire Department.
