Township levies on the Nov. 7 ballot

Several townships in Madison County have placed levy renewals or replacements on the Nov. 7 general election ballot.

Darby Township – cemetery. The township is seeking a five-year renewal of a 1-mill property tax for cemetery maintenance. The levy generates approximately $114,000 per year. The cost to the taxpayer is $25 per year for every $100,000 of property valuation.

Darby Township – current expenses. The township is asking for five-year renewal of a 0.6-mill property tax for current expenses. The levy generates approximately $68,000 per year. The cost to the taxpayer is $15 per year per $100,000 of property valuation.

Paint Township – cemetery. The township is requesting a five-year renewal of a 0.4-mill property tax for cemetery maintenance. The levy generates approximately $9,000 per year. The cost to the taxpayer is $14 per year per $100,000 of property valuation.

Range Township – current expenses. The township is asking for a five-year renewal of a 0.8-mill property tax for current expenses. The levy generates approximately $40,000 per year. The cost to the taxpayer is $26 per year per $100,000 of property valuation.

Range Township – fire services. The township has placed a request for a five-year replacement of a 0.6-mill property levy for fire services. A replacement would bring tax collections up-to-date with current property values. Currently, the levy generates approximately $18,300 per year and costs the taxpayer $9.80 per year per $100,000 of property valuation. If the replacement passes, the levy would generate approximately $32,000 per year and cost the taxpayer $21 per year per $100,000 of property valuation.

Stokes Township – cemetery. The township is asking for a five-year renewal of a 0.3-mill property tax levy for cemetery maintenance. The levy generates approximately $10,000 per year. The cost to the taxpayer is $11 per year per $100,000 of property valuation.
