Lots of people put on special eye glasses and watched the total solar eclipse on April 8. Some even took photos of the celestial event. Pictured here is Kevin Smith of Groveport who used a neutral density filter on his camera lens to get photos of the eclipse. “I was awed,” Smith said of viewing the total eclipse. “I’ve never seen anything this interesting before.”

The city of Groveport held a Total Eclipse Party at KidSpace, located at 630 Wirt Road. Pictured here inside KidSpace is Groveport Police Chief and Spaceman Casey Adams as he beholds the universe. Groveport City Councilman Ed Dildine quipped that Adams must be “a member of the U.S. Space Force.”
A good sized crowd brought lawn chairs to the parking lot at KidSpace to view the total solar eclipse through special eye glasses. The city handed out 100 of the special eye glasses and also distributed tasty Moon Pies to the crowd. Groveport City Administrator B.J. King said the eclipse darkened the sky enough that the city’s streetlights temporarily kicked on.
