Revelers decked out in 1860s clothihng danced across the South Charleston Opera House floor during the 13th Annual New Year’s Eve Grand Ball. The Civil War-era themed event came complete with appetizers, dessert, a toast at midnight and live music by the 73rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment Band, a brass and percussion group based in Columbus.
No previous dance experience was necessary to fully enjoy the Grand Ball. Dance master Jim Ruley provided instructions before each dance started and called out the steps while the music played.
Proceeds benefited the South Charleston Heritage Commission.
