A fun way to learn about safety

The Madison County Emergency Management Agency hosted a Safety Expo on Aug. 28 at the Madison County Fairgrounds. Activities included a bike rodeo, medical helicopter landings, and a touch-a-truck display, among others–all designed to impart safety information to children and adults.

Who would have guessed small children were so fond of antiques? Or maybe, to small children, a fire truck’s a fire truck, especially if you can climb on it. The London Fire Department’s look at yesteryear was an eyecatcher for all ages.
Addie Thornton, 5, of South Vienna makes her way through the Friends of Madison County Parks & Trails bicycle safety course. Thornton followed the rules of the road and picked up a free bike helmet.
