Self-portraits (top) created by teacher Tracey Pearson’s Digital Design I class peer out from a wall in Canal Winchester High School during the Canal Winchester school district’s "Maps of Our Imagination" art show held May 3 at all four of the district’s school buildings. Pearson said the students took digital photos of themselves and then used Adobe Illustrator to create cartoon renderings of themselves. (Middle), artist Anna Gill, a senior, poses with two of her creations, a scratchboard work and a still life. "I can only imagine how lackluster the world around me would seem if I did not take the time to be amazed at its beauty and complexities," said Gill, who plans to attend Marietta College this fall majoring in middle childhood education. (Bottom) junior Josh Terry works on creating a self-portrait. Terry said he prefers to work in pencil, but has used other mediums. He said anything can be used as subject matter in the art he creates.
