The Battle of Good vs. Evil

On May 4, dozens of Star Wars fans across the west and southwest quadrant of our local galaxy descended upon the Columbia Heights United Methodist Church in Galloway to partake in its annual “May the Fourth be with You” festivities. Limited in scope last year to slow the spread of COVID-19, the popular event was able to expand the number of attendees and the number of in-person activities for fans of the universe. “It has been so nice to see so many people engaged this year,” said Duane McVay, a life group leader at the church who established the event in 2016. The theme for this year was “The Battle of Good vs. Evil” but Stormtrooper Ella Gallebo (pictured second from the left) was to get along with Yoda, Chewbacca, and her mother Brandi (who was sporting a BB-8 Disney hat) for a quick photo op. The 12-year-old resident of Galloway said she likes the aesthetic of the Stormtroopers and their “cool blasters.”
