Lockbourne celebrated spring, the Kentucky Derby, and fancy hats with high tea in the village’s Historical Hall, a renovated late 1800s former schoolhouse. In the spirit of the 149th Kentucky Derby, prizes were awarded for the fanciest hat. Enjoying the May 6 event, from left to right, are Angel Howell, Jane McJunkin and Connie Callendar. McJunkin placed second in the hat contest.
Lockbourne resident and village Deputy Administrator Kendall Collins serves tea to Karen Carter during High Tea. Carter’s daughter, Rebecca, placed first in the fanciest hat contest during the morning session of the tea. Christine Henne was selected to have the fanciest hat in the afternoon session. Proceeds from the event and a silent auction raised more than $1,000 for Rediscover Lockbourne, an organization that provides support in improving the village community.
