Scioto Grove Metro Park hosted its first toddler hike event on April 13 which allowed young children and their families to burn off a little extra energy while exploring the natural beauty of the trails and attractions under the supervision of the Columbus and Franklin County Metro Park staff. During the nearly one-mile adventure, toddlers throughout the region encountered frogs, snakes and turtles and even made a few new friends along the way. Here, Columbus resident Holly Murphy (left) and outdoor adventure employee Megan Harris encourage Peter Murphy as he tries to catch up to the rest of the group on the Arrowhead Trail. Although the event was billed as “go your own pace,” the 14-month-old tried his best to keep up with the slightly older crowd.

Hemenway said they have attended the toddler hike programs at the other metro parks and were excited to attend this particular event as they had not yet been able to explore the park in Grove City.
