Prairie Oaks Metro Park has gone to the dogs. On Aug. 17, several hundred canines descended upon the park’s Darby Bend Lakes area to participate in the annual canine party known as WAG! Fest. While there, the pooches tested their agility on an obstacle course, played in the water with new friends, begrudgingly got their nails trimmed and had a dog-gone good time. Their humans also got in on the action as they shopped for treats and listened to seminars on how to keep their best friends safe. Shown here are some scene captured at the tail-wagging event.

Mollie Diehr, a 2-year-old chocolate lab, takes to the water naturally.
Baker, a 4-year-old dachshund/poodle/sea otter mix from Lewis Center, takes a swim in the lake.
Luke Santagata, 12, shows his dog Skye how to clear a hurdle at the obstacle course area.
Pickerington resident Darlene Garski encourages her poodle, Yuma, as she makes an attempt on an obstacle.
Brothers Duke of York and Oliver jockey for position as they take their toy back to their family. These Cavalier King Charles dogs hail from Gahanna.
Ice, ice, doggies.
Gatsby, a 7-year-old terrier from Columbus, has a great time rolling in the grass.
Oliver, a Dachshund, hangs out with his human, Rachel Maynard, as they listen to a seminar at the Take a Bow Wow stage. The duo from West Jefferson were learning about foods, ingredients and medications that are not safe for canine consumption, such as chocolate, items containing xylitol and ibuprofen/naproxen.
