Karen Pease, a fourth grade teacher at Highland Park Elementary, reads to Lilly Pease and siblings Lottie, Ella and Millie Rose at the Martin Luther King Park in the village of Urbancrest on June 19. Pease is a part of a free summer program where several staff members from the school are available for reading instruction for students in kindergarten through fourth grade. With the exception of July 3, the teachers will be on hand from 10 to 11 a.m. each Wednesday through Aug. 7 at the open shelter house with books, snacks, prizes and crafts. The park is located on First Avenue, between the Southwest Community Center YMCA and the Union Baptist Church.
