West Jefferson defeated Mechanicsburg 5-3 on April 26 in Ohio Heritage Conference league play.

West Jefferson gave up two runs in the first inning to the Indians then came back to score two runs in the third inning to tie the score. In the sixth inning, Lexi Swaney hit a homerun to put the Roughriders up 3-2.

Not giving up, Mechanicsburg scored a run in the top of the sevneth inning. West Jefferson’s Zoey Brown started the seventh inning by reaching first baseon an error. A pop up bunt by Cassie Simmons brought up pitcher Brooke Mannon, who hit a line drive homerun with a 2-0 count to end the game.

West Jefferson is now 14-0 on the season (8-0 in the conference).

West Jefferson’s Brooke Mannon delivers the game-winning line drive homerun to score two runs and keep the Roughriders undefeated. Mannon also notched the win on the mound with 13 strikeouts, walking one and giving up three runs on five hits.
