To cap off the end to another successful season on the hardwood, the Special Olympics basketball coaches in the South-Western City Schools District held the first skills competition on March 6. For more than an hour, the athletes who played on the Special Olympics basketball squads at Central Crossing, Franklin Heights and Grove City High School showcased their talents at specialized events such as the Spot Shot, Speed Dribble, 3-Point Shot and Target Pass. Erin Henschen, one of the coaches at Franklin Heights, said judging from the reaction of the athletes and their fans, they hope to make this skills competition an annual event. Here were some of the scenes captured during the competition.
