West Jefferson’s 27th Christmas in the Park took place Dec. 9-10 at Garrette Park. Rain on Friday dampened the air but not the spirits of those who took part. The weather was perfect on Saturday night. A large crowd turned out to enjoy a lighted parade, the light display at the park, Santa, carriage and train rides, food and drinks, and entertainment. Lights at the park will remain on nightly, 5-10 p.m., until Jan. 1.

A trackless train was a new addition to the event this year. The train was part of the lighted parade before heading to the park to offer free rides to children and adults.
The West Jefferson Ox Roast queen and court (shown here) took part in the lighted parade, as did the London Strawberry Festival queen and court. Both groups and their families enjoyed a Christmas party at American Legion Post 201 prior to the parade.
