It’s time again for the “Biggest Little Festival in Ohio.” Admission is free.
The 2016 Shekinah Festival & Auction kicks off at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 9 with pulled pork bbq and homemade ice cream. Hot air balloons will lift off, weather permitting, for a unique aerial display at 5:45 p.m. For balloon ride information, call (614) 504-3068. Ryan & Friends, a Christian comedian and ventriloquist act, takes the stage at 7 p.m., and a silent auction will be ongoing throughout the night.
The main event begins the next morning, Sept. 10, with an additional hot air balloon lift off at 7:15 a.m., again weather permitting. Food will be available at 7 a.m. with sausage and egg sandwiches, doughnuts, and coffee. Starting at 10 a.m., trail bologna, pizza, taco salad, chicken barbecue and more will be offered. Numerous crafts and baked goods including peanut butter, fry pies and apple dumplings will be for sale in the craft booth section starting at 8:30 a.m.
Throughout the day, children can enjoy a pedal pull, bounce house, zipline, petting zoo, pony rides and more. The auction featuring handmade quilts, in-home meals, furniture and collectibles will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visit the photo section of the event’s Facebook page to view many of the auction items (facebook.com/shekinahfestival).
The annual Shekinah Festival and Auction raises money for the operating expenses of Shekinah’s kindergarten through 12th grade Christian school. This year marks the festival’s 37th year.
The festival takes place on the Shekinah school grounds at 10040 Lafayette-Plain City Road, three miles southwest of Plain City. For additional information, call (614) 504-3066.
