The artists behind this year’s batch of Christmas greeting cards from Sky High Arts are: (from left) Josh Miller, Angela S. Pack and Roy D. Austin. To see their designs, go to www.columbusmessenger.com and click on Madison.

Titled “Celebration,” “Making Memories” and “Cabin in the Country,” the designs that adorn this year’s set of Sky High Arts greeting cards ooze holiday spirit.

This is the second year the arts program at MATCO Services in London has offered cards for sale. They are designed by clients of MATCO, the agency in Madison County that provides vocational, non-vocational and rehabilitative services to adults with disabilities.

For the second year, Roy D. Austin’s artwork has been selected for the holiday cards. Josh Miller and Angela S. Pack created the other two designs featured in the 2008 set.

“Art has been Roy’s passion from a young age, and it shines through his paintings and drawings,” said Alice Kennedy, Sky High Arts coordinator.

Another favorite pastime of Austin’s is weekly bingo at the Madison County Senior Center. Austin has been employed by MATCO since 1977 and lives in London.

Miller, who has been with MATCO since 2003, enjoys painting class on Friday afternoons with local artist and volunteer, Harry Croghan. Miller serves on Employee Council at MATCO, is an avid fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes, and resides with his parents in Plain City.

Like Miller, Pack takes part in the painting class on Fridays. She has cerebral palsy, which affects her movement patterns and speech. She uses a communication device, which she can attach to her wheelchair, to be her voice.

“Angie approaches her paintings with wide strokes of color and lots of enthusiasm,” Kennedy said. Pack is employed by MATCO Services  and lives in London.

Proceeds from the holiday card sales will go toward the purchase of supplies for the Sky High Arts program.

Card buyers have two options. They can buy pre-packaged sets of 12 cards with an even mixture of all three designs. These 12-packs are $11 each and blank on the inside. The second option is to place a custom order featuring a personalized greeting on the inside of the cards. The customized cards are $55 for 50 cards, $100 for 100, $135 for 150, and $160 for 200.

For more details or to place an order, call Alice Kennedy at MATCO Services, 740-852-7054. Allow one week for custom orders. All orders must be placed by Dec. 7.

For orders of $20 or more, Sky High Arts is providing free shipping and local delivery in London and West Jefferson, or customers may pick up their orders at MATCO, 1509 State Rte. 38 SE, London.
