Troopers of the West Jefferson Patrol Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred at 2 p.m. July 13.
A gray, 2014 Honda Accord, driven by Kenneth A. Pfeil Jr., 73, of West Jefferson, was traveling westbound on State Route 142 and drove off the right side of the roadway, striking a utility pole and a tree. The Madison County coroner pronounced Pfeil Jr. deceased at the scene. The crash occurred on State Route 142 near Simpson Road in Deer Creek Township.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Madison County Coroner’s Office, Central Townships Joint Fire District, Madison County EMS, London City Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, and Flynn’s Towing.
Pfeil Jr. was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash.
