The bounty of summer is here for the picking at the Canal Winchester Farmers’ Market.

“This is our 16th year and we are one of the longest running farmers’ markets in central Ohio as well as having one of the longest market seasons in the area,” said Bruce Jarvis of Destination:Canal Winchester. “The market gets bigger and better every year.”

The farmers’ market offers fresh vegetables and fruits, herbs, baked goods, locally made goods and products, and local services.

“The farmers’ market is a happy place,” said Canal Winchester Mayor Mike Ebert. “It’s a magnet that brings people downtown, which helps all the downtown businesses.”

Added Jarvis, “There’s always lots of fun and lots of smiles here at the farmers’ market.”

Jarvis said one of the new businesses at this year’s market is Szagorski’s, which offers a Hungarian wax pepper that is uniquely hot and sweet.

“When you bite into the pepper, the hot and sweet taste is simultaneous,” said Gerry Nemeth of Szagorski’s. “People taste this pepper and they like it.”

Among the other new businesses at the market, according to Jarvis, are Nom Nom Nom, which offers homemade healthy dog treats; and Aunt Bee’s Fudge.

“Aunt Bee’s Fudge has peanut brittle that is phenomenal,” said Jarvis, who added, “There are quite of few of our regular, long time vendors here again at the farmers’ market, too.”

Jarvis said customers looking for fresh green beans and sweet corn, and can expect to find these tasty vegetables as well as other locally grown seasonal produce at the farmers’ market by late June and early July.

“Come on out,” said Jarvis.

  1. To Whom it may concern,

I am the owner of Aunt Bea’s Fudge. I just wanted to let you know that you have the spelling of my business name wrong in your article about the Farmer’s Market in Canal Winchester. It is Aunt Bea’s Fudge, not Aunt Bee’s Fudge. I appreciate the mention of my business since I just started last August. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call me at 614-920-3826.

    Thank you for your time.
