Elections for seats on the Greater Hilltop Area Commission will be held if there are five or more petitions filed. No election is required if four or less petitions are filed.
Four seats on the commission are up for election and one seat is up for an appointment.
If required, the Greater Hilltop Area Commission election will take place on Saturday, Oct. 2. The locations of the polling stations will be announced no later than 30 days before the election.
In the event an election is required, all residents over the age of 18 and living in the greater Hilltop area are eligible to vote. Hilltop residents do not need to be a registered voter, however, identification showing proof of residency will be required.
Those wishing to run for a seat, which is a three-year term, on the Greater Hilltop Area Commission must meet the following criteria:
•The candidate must reside in the Greater Hilltop Area.
•The candidate must maintain residency in the Greater Hilltop Area to remain a member of the commission.
•The candidate must complete and return a candidate packet/petition in accordance with the election rules.
