Schedule for Mt. Sterling’s Let Freedom Ring Festival

Mount Sterling’s 8th Annual July 4 Celebration will take place June 27-28. Activities will take place on the streets of downtown Mount Sterling, at the town gazebo, at the Mount Sterling Community Center, 164 E. Main St., and at Veterans Field next to the community center. Look for the waffle booth and fish fry stand at Veterans Field.

Friday, June 27

Noon-8 p.m.        Silent auction (town hall)

Noon-9 p.m.        Carnival rides, food, vendors (streets)

5:30 p.m.             Little Miss and Mr. Firecracker Contest for ages 4-6; judging begins at 5:30; winners announced at 7 (gazebo)

5-7 p.m.                Antique appraisals—$3 per item, maximum five items (community center)

6:30 p.m.             Bicycle decorating contest for ages 2-5, 6-9, 10-12 (gazebo)

6-8 p.m.               Quilt and art exhibits (community center)

8-10 p.m.             Live music by the Bluegrass Boys (gazebo)

Saturday, June 28

All day                    Carnival rides, food and vendors; kids’ crafts, face painter, water mister and games (streets)

9 a.m.-1 p.m.        Cruise-in car show; winners announced at 1 p.m. (streets)

10 a.m.-6 p.m.     Baking contest and quilt, flower and art exhibits (community center; winners announced at 6:30 p.m. at the gazebo)

11 a.m.                    Parade; pets and bikes welcome, too; pet parade categories for kids’ ages 2-5, 6-9, 10-12 (line-up at Veterans Field at 10 a.m.)

1-3 p.m.                   Kids’ games and activities (Veterans Field)

1-4 p.m.                   Rock-n-Roll Trivia hosted by the Timmons brothers and sponsored by Mount Sterling Public Library (community center)

10 a.m.-6 p.m.       Silent auction; includes patriotic quilt made by MSCC Sew Social ladies (town hall; winners announced at 6:30 p.m. at the gazebo)

2:30-6 p.m.            Music from D.J. KB Towler (gazebo)

7-9 p.m.                   Live music by Tim Omark (gazebo)

9:45 p.m.                 Laser light show; bring lawn chairs and blankets (Veterans Field)
