Christmas in the Park took place Friday-Sunday, Dec. 14-16 at West Jefferson’s Garrette Park. Visitors enjoyed a massive light display, pictures with Santa, carriage rides, live music, crafts, games and food.
Brenda Blanton helps Santa to turn on the lights during opening ceremonies on Dec. 14. With a pull of the switch box, 300,000 lights lit up the park to create a winter wonderland.Rain put a damper on Saturday’s festivities. The lighted parade was cancelled but the snow went on as scheduled. Rain puddles in Garrette Park made for a nice reflection of the lights in the trees.A large crowd was on hand for opening night at Christmas in the Park. They wandered the grounds, enjoying music and lights.The West Jefferson High School Jazz Band plays Christmas music.
