The London Rotary Club is pleased to honor senior Samuel Homan as London High School’s December Student of the Month.
Students of the month are selected by school administrators based on their academic and extracurricular achievement and positive character.
Sam has a 4.121 grade point average, is ranked sixth in his class, and states his favorite class is art or band. Sam is on the Merit Honor Roll. He is a five-year member of the high school band and has been involved in theater the past four years. He is a four-year member of the London Winter Guard and a two-year member of the London Gaming Club.
When asked to name a school staff person who inspires him, Sam named high school Spanish teacher Janelle Varveris.
“Ms. Varveris always does what she can to be a positive and fun person, and I respect that,” he said.
About Sam, Varveris said, “Sam is a one-of-a-kind person and student. He brings joy to every situation he is in, smiling all along the way. I have known him for six years beginning in middle school. He has been active in the performing arts for as long as I have known him, starting with the middle school musical, ‘Legally Blonde,’ back in 2017.
“He is unapologetically himself and a hardworking student. I am so happy Sam was selected as December’s London Rotary Student of the Month. Proud of you!”
Sam plans to attend a four-year university to study art and theatre. He is the son of Marv and Jodi Homan of London.
The London Rotary Club has a proud history dating back to 1929. It is a member of Rotary International, a volunteer organization of 1.2 million businesses and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build good will and peace.
