Michaela McConkey, a kindergarten teacher at Finland Elementary, practices making a tourniquet on transportation supervisor Tim Cox at a Stop the Bleed training event on June 5. McConkey and Cox were among the hundreds of employees with the South-Western City Schools District who participated in a series of safety exercises on June 4, 5 and 11. The exercise on the fifth had employees learn how to use safety kits that were purchased through the allocation of funds from Ohio House Bill 318. Business services director Monte Detterman said the kits will be available in each classroom and those who participated in the training events will pass their knowledge along to the building staff.
