The London Rotary Club is pleased to honor senior Ian Bowshier as Madison-Plains High School’s November Student of the Month.

Students of the month are selected by school administrators based on their academic and extracurricular achievement and positive character.

Bowshier has a 3.93 grade point average and is ranked sixth in his class. His favorite course is calculus. During his four years as a member of the varsity golf team, he has been named most valuable player three times and earned second-team all-conference honors twice.

Bowshier is the treasurer of the high school’s chapter of National Honor Society, student government vice president, and student council co-president.

When asked to name a school staff member who inspires him, Bowshier named Luke Sondej.

“Mr. Sondej is an excellent teacher.  He is very tough but fair and still makes our AP calculus class fun,” he said.

About Bowshier, Sondej commented, “Ian is a pleasure to have in class. He is always upbeat and provides witty, humorous banter to go along with class discussion. He brings new and interesting viewpoints that challenge the way his classmates and I think.”

After graduation, Bowshier plans to attend The Ohio State University (OSU) to study aerospace or mechanical engineering. He is also considering joining the Air Force ROTC program at OSU.  Bowshier is the son of John and Trisha Bowshier.

The London Rotary Club has a proud history dating back to 1929. It is a member of Rotary International, a volunteer organization of 1.2 million business and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build good will and peace.
