The London Rotary Club is pleased to honor senior Tyson Guiette as Madison-Plains High School’s January Student of the Month.
Students of the month are selected by school administrators based on their academic and extracurricular achievement and positive character.
Tyson has a 4.08 grade point average, ranking him second in his class. His favorite class is history. Tyson played on the football team for four years, serving as a team captain this year. He has also been involved with the powerlifting program for four years. Tyson has participated in FFA throughout high school, has been in National Honor Society for three years, and served as class president for one year.
When asked to name a Madison-Plains staff member who inspires him, Tyson said, “Mr. (Geoff) Stokes inspired me because he pushed me to be the best I could be, and he really believed in me.”
About Tyson, Stokes said, “What really impressed me about Tyson when he joined my classroom was his balance of intelligence and open-mindedness. He was capable of doing work at the level of his peers, but at the same time, he wanted to do his best, even if it meant putting in more time and thought.
“Tyson grew so much as a thinker and as a writer because he understood that getting an A on an assignment was not the overarching goal of his education. Instead, he aimed at reaching his full potential by applying himself, listening to his teachers and coaches, and accepting the help they offered. I am pleased to say that I believe he has achieved that goal.”
After graduation, Tyson plans to attend a four-year college. he is the son of Lisa and Tim Guiette.
The London Rotary Club has a proud history dating back to 1929. It is a member of Rotary International, a volunteer organization of 1.2 million businesses and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build good will and peace.
