The London Rotary Club is pleased to honor senior Jonathan Schooley as London High School’s January Student of the Month.
Students of the month are selected by school administrators based on their academic and extracurricular achievement and positive character.
Jonathan has a 4.289 grade point average, is ranked sixth in his class, and states his favorite class is physics. He has been a member of the National Honor Society for two years. He played football for four years, earning second-team All League honors his junior and senior years and the Football Integrity Award. Jonathan also has played basketball the past three years. He was named a 2021 Junior Kiwanian Award winner and is a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
When asked to name a school staff person who has inspired him, Jonathan named English teacher Michelle Sambas.
“Mrs. Sambas is a teacher that inspires me because of the way she challenges her students in our literature class. Each day, she introduces her students to new and unique perspectives that draw us into the material. She is always there to help guide us and give constructive advice when it comes to improving our writing,” he said.
About Jonathan, Sambas said, “Jonathan Schooley is an unforgettable young man. He has worked hard in class and it has paid dividends. Jonathan’s writing is some of the best I have read this year, and I honestly look forward to seeing his insights into the literature we’re studying. His hard work and determination will help him go far and do great things. I look forward to Jonathan’s success in college and in life.”
After graduation, Jonathan plans to attend Miami University to study engineering. Jonathan is the son of Eric and Stephanie Schooley of London.
The London Rotary Club has a proud history dating back to 1929. It is a member of Rotary International, a volunteer organization of 1.2 million businesses and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build good will and peace.
