The following pets are up for adoption at the Humane Society of Madison County, 2020 Plain City Georgesville Rd., West Jefferson. Call (614) 879-8368. Shelter hours are: Saturday and Sunday, 12-5 p.m.; Monday, closed; Tuesday-Friday, 1-7 p.m.
Rocky was surrendered to the Humane Society on Sept. 18, 2019, because the owner could no longer care for him.
He is a big shepherd mix who weighs in at about 80 pounds and has an estimated birthdate of Sept. 18, 2014. Rocky loves everyone he meets, and he has done okay with some of the dogs to which he has been introduced at the shelter. When it comes to larger males, Rocky thinks he needs to act tough, but for the most part, he usually ignores other dogs. Staff took Rocky through the cat adoption center, and he is a bit scared of the kitties.
The shelter found out from Rocky’s past owner that he tore both of his ACLs and was not treated, so they healed on their own. The Humane Society’s vet examined him and said he cannot have surgery because his ACLs healed on their own. Additionally, he has arthritis. Currentl, he is on supplements and a “doggie aspirin” and will continue to need them the rest of his life.
Sunshine is a domestic short-hair orange tiger white kitty with an estimated birthdate of Aug. 8, 2019. She is a comedian and will always keep you laughing with her antics. She stays busy most of the day, playing with toys and other cats and kittens. She will take a break now and again to look out windows from high up on the cat trees. As the day winds down, Sunshine curls up next to you while you watch your favorite television shows.
