The London Rotary Club is pleased to honor senior Robert “Bobby” Wood as Madison-Plains High School’s November Student of the Month.
Students of the month are selected by school administrators based on their academic and extracurricular achievement and positive character.
Bobby has a 4.077 grade point average and is currently ranked fourth in his class. His favorite course is College Credit Plus U.S. History. Bobby played baritone in the marching band his freshman and sophomore years. He was a member of the boys’ golf team his sophomore and junior years.
Bobby was a member of the drama club his first three years of high school, running the lights and sound for the productions. He intends to participate this year as a senior, as well. He has been in Key Club for four years and served as class treasurer his freshman and sophomore years. As a senior, he is a member of the Quick Recall team.
When asked which Madison-Plains staff member inspires him, Bobby picked high school social studies teacher Jason Hunt.
“Mr. Hunt (inspires me) due to his consistent positive outlook on life and his extensive abilities to argue,” Bobby said.
Regarding Bobby, Hunt said, “Bobby is a bright and talented student who challenges himself to go beyond his high abilities, which I appreciate so much. Bobby has a strong work ethic and is a great team player. He is willing to consider views contrary to his current beliefs and is not afraid to change his opinions whenever new facts are learned, but at the same time, is not afraid to think for himself. This combination of traits along with his high abilities will lead Bobby to great heights in his future. It has been a true pleasure to have been his teacher the past two years.”
After graduation, Bobby plans to attend a college to pursue a law/computer science/business degree. He is the son of Mike and Marie Wood.
The London Rotary Club has a proud history dating back to 1929. It is a member of Rotary International, a volunteer organization of 1.2 million businesses and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build good will and peace.
