Groveport street maintenance program
The city of Groveport awarded a contract to Decker Construction Company for the 2020 Street Maintenance Program. Work activities will include pavement repair and asphalt resurfacing, and crack-seal repairs at various locations. This year’s work will include milling and re-surfacing of South Hamilton Road from the intersection with London-Groveport Road (State Route 317), south to near Lowry Court, and Bixby Road between South Hamilton Road and a point just east of Dorchester Street. A portion of Bixby Road in this segment will be closed for a short time to stabilize the road bed. This closure will require a temporary detour of traffic around the construction zone.

This year’s street program will also involve new curbs and gutters, new curb ramps and road resurfacing on Glendening Drive. Part of this year’s street maintenance project will also include improvements at the intersection of Main Street and College Street, to include at the corners, repaired curb ramps, brick sidewalk repairs, pavement milling and resurfacing and new crosswalks. In advance of commencing work, the contractor will place stakes with placards behind the curbs on streets to be improved. The placards will advise residents of the dates and times of the work, and when on-street/curb-side parking will not be permitted to allow the contractor room to conduct the work. Immediately following paving operation, through traffic may resume. While weather may affect the schedule, it is anticipated that all work will be completed by the end of September.
