Rib and Jazz Fest: Fun for kids, too!

Dr. Insecta

Grown-ups won’t be the only ones having a good time at the London Rib and Jazz Festival, set for Aug. 4-5 in historic downtown London.

A slew of children’s activities are planned for 12-6 p.m. Aug. 5.

Ever seen an emergency vehicle up close in a comfortable setting? Don’t miss Touch-a-Truck, located in the public parking lot near the corner of Main and Second streets. Vehicles from the London Police Department, London Division of Fire, Madison County Emergency Medical District, and Madison County Sheriff’s Office will be on display.

You don’t have to stay in one place to catch Dr. Insecta, who nonchalantly mingles with the crowd, with three to five of the largest arachnids in the world clinging to his lab coat. He also presents a running dialogue of facts about these gentle giants, as well as great photo opportunities.

Care for something less scary? The Ohio Wildlife Center will present a live animal showcase. Free cotton candy and face painting also will be available. All of this will take place at Revive Baptist Church, 61 S. Main St.
