In spite of the rain pouring from a slate gray November sky, members of VFW Post 10523 raised the flag in Groveport’s Veterans Park as part of Veterans Day ceremonies held there on Nov. 11. Guest speaker Wayne Motts – who is the executive director of the Adams County Historical Society in Gettysburg, Pa., a licensed battlefield guide, and the son of Motts Military Museum Director Warren Motts – told the small, rain soaked but hearty crowd who gathered for the ceremony that "When thinking of Veterans Day, the word that comes to mind is service." But Motts added that two other words also represent the day and those who have served in the nation’s armed forces – "courage and determination."
