This is a picture showing downtown London around 1905. Notice the dirt streets. Main Street was not paved with brick until 1913. Note the light hanging at the intersection of South Main and Second streets. This was the only illumination at night besides the lights on the store fronts. The gas lights were few and far between with those that were left standing. The interurbans were operating after 1903 in London. Earl Ballenger is a resident of London.
