Remember When: County fair board in 1938

It’s fair week! Through July 14, the Madison County Fairgrounds in London will be abuzz with animal shows, concessions, rides and truck pulls. What better time to revisit a picture from the fair’s past. (This year marks the 118th Madison County Fair.)

This photograph shows members of the 1938 Madison County Fair Board: (front row, from left) Dr. Fred Jones, M.B. Cannon, Stewart Anderson, Thomas Gaynard, Martin Watkins, Howard Graham, Walter Minshall, and Fred Guy; (back row) Leslie Bostwick, Howard Correll, Burnham Cary, Clarence Garen, Paul Sanford, Stanley Carpenter, John Taylor and Edward Fitzgerald.

Columnist Earl Ballenger is a resident of London. If you have an old photograph to share, call 740-852-0809.
