Remember When: 1946 football team

This photo shows the 1946 London High School football team. The coach to the far left was Jacob von Kanel. The other two coaches were Darwin Keye and Robert Mounts. We were able to identify a few of the individuals in the picture:

• No. 47 (third from left, back row), Ned Bennett; No. 40 (fifth from left, back row), Harry Rutherford; No. 44 (third from right, back row), Danny Davis. 

• No. 22 (fourth from right, second row), Jimmy Powers. 

• The managers listed were William Jackson, Charles Keefer and Al Mancini.

• Others listed were Roger Dillion, William Foulk, Joe Hillman, Eugene Harbage, George Shoemaker, Richard Barker, Donald Bardon, Don Coleman, Richard Hughes, Robert Herriott, Paul Holman, Don Rightsell, Robert Stevens, Russell Byerly, Don Pratt, Norbert Hoemoelle, Tom Minner, J. Sullivan, S. Wilson, R. Kulp, J. Payne, R. Wood, L. DeVore, D. French, M. Hunter, W. Hayman, J. Park, J. Martin, R. Kelly, J. Roberts, D. Stanley, W. Shoaf, J. Corson, R. Sweet, W. Higgins, M. Cordle, R. Ladley, D. Brake and R. Ervin.

The team’s season record was 8-1.
