Join RecSchool for a free, hands-on open house from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 25. While children build with blocks, read a book or paint a picture, parents visit the classrooms, look over children’s project samples, meet with staff, pick up registration information, and schedule a registration appointment. Drop in for a quick visit or stay the entire two hours.
RecSchool, Grove City Parks and Recreation’s preschool program, offers a nature-based, age-appropriate learning experience for pre-kindergarten children ages 3 through 5, at Gantz Barn in Gantz Park, 2259 Home Road. Registration for the 2020-2021 school year begins mid-February.
RecSchool operates September through May, with half-day classes offered two or three times per week from 9 to 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 to 3 p.m. Children must be 3 years old by Sept. 30, 2020 to participate. Licensed by the state of Ohio, RecSchool prepares young children for success in grade school and beyond by fostering a love of learning, self-confidence, creativity, social skills and independence.
At RecSchool, children learn through independent discovery, planned activities, meaningful play and social interactions. Experienced teachers plan art, literacy, music, math and science activities to create a well-rounded and thought-provoking curriculum. Time is spent each class exploring Gantz Park, as children gather natural items to study in the classroom, venture through the woods or walk along the creek. RecSchool teachers recognize that time spent in nature supports a child’s sense of wonder and adventure, increases the ability to focus, improves mental and physical health and allows children to feel happy and free.
