The close race for seats on Canal Winchester City Council means a recount will be necessary, according to the Ohio Secretary of State and the Franklin County Board of Elections.
Only one vote separates Jill Amos and Bob Toledo for the final seat on council.
The certified results from the Franklin County Board of Elections from the Nov. 7 election for these races are:
•Canal Winchester City Council (four elected): Patrick Lynch, 1,026; Mike Coolman, 975; Will Bennett, 962; Jill Amos, 940; Bob Toledo, 939; Bobbie Mershon, 922.
Recounts are required when there is less than one half of one percent difference between the declared winning candidate and the candidate who received the next highest number of total votes cast.
The recount must begin no later than Dec. 8. The Franklin County Board of Elections will begin the recount of the race beginning at 9 a.m. on Dec. 4 at the Franklin County Board of Elections 1700 Morse Road, Columbus.
