Record breaking night for West Jeff

West Jefferson defeated Fairbanks 49-14 on Oct. 4. The Roughriders finished the shortened season with a 5-1 overall record (4-1 league record) to finish in second place in the Ohio Heritage Conference North division. They have a bye week as they prepare for the Ohio High School Athletic Association tournament. West Jefferson will host the winner of Anna and Casstown Miami East on Oct. 19 in Div. VI Region 24 play.

Tyler Buescher prepares to throw a pass as the rush of the Fairbanks defender closes in. Buescher completed 37 of 47 passes for 490 yards and threw four touchdown passes. He broke the school record for passing yards in a game with 490 yards, a record he had previously broken this season against West Liberty Salem with 389 yards. He also broke the school record for career passing yards with 5,807 yards.
Tyler Oberle hauls in a pass between two Fairbanks defenders. Oberle scored three touchdowns on receptions for the Roughriders. Oberle broke the school record for most pass receptions in a game with 14 and broke the school record for most receiving yards in a game with 234 yards. Also of note, receiver M.J. Book broke the previous reception record of nine receptions with 11 receptions.
The Roughrider defense gangs up on Brogan Green of Fairbanks to stop him. The West Jefferson defense held Fairbanks to 169 rushing yards and 287 total yards in a 49-14 victory.
